Your Old Town walking tour will not only reveal some of the streets of
Scotland’s historic Old Town as they are today; more importantly, it will
let you discover what they once used to be like! We love taking our
guests to the very places where some of Scotland’s most famous (and
infamous) characters lived and walked. This Edinburgh history tour uses
stories and images to help you imagine the past. Your Edinburgh tour
guide carries A3-sized books with pictures selected from our archive. We
want you to imagine Old Edinburgh as it once was. We use our research,
our images, and our vivid and well-told descriptions to help you recreate
the stories in your mind.
This is a tour meant for the connoisseurs of history, and we assure you
that we don’t disappoint.
OLD EDINBURGH GUIDED TOUR
The Edinburgh history tour that lets you explore the Old Town as it
once was.
Old Edinburgh Tour
There's something special about standing in a place where a King
or a Queen once stood, and it's even more special to know what
things happened there! Bringing the past to life is something we
love doing. This is something we excel at and it is often
mentioned in our glowing Tripadvisor reviews.
When you come to us, we'll use carefully selected archived
images and vivid descriptions to help you imagine the Old Town
as it once was.
The stories we tell, the mental images we paint will, we are sure,
let you see Edinburgh differently. Wouldn't it be exciting to walk
about the Old Town after your tour and see the buildings and
streets as they are now…but know what they once looked like and
how Edinburgh used to be? This tour has been designed to help
you imagine exactly that!
You’ll walk in the footsteps of;
Mary, Queen of Scots
Robert Burns
King James VI
King James IV and Margaret Tudor
Deacon William Brodie
Burke and Hare
Bonnie Prince Charlie
(and others too!)
On this tour, you will visit three of Old Edinburgh’s execution spots - the
site of the notorious Tolbooth prison, the place where Burke and Hare
brought their victim's bodies and, last but not the least, the scene of
what is almost certainly Scotland’s most significant and infamous
assassination. In a mere two hours, you’ll get a great understanding of
what life (and death) was once like in the Old Town.

“It was a great joy to listen to the stories about the Old
Town. The visual aids he uses are a perfect addition to
them and as you see the 'then and now' you get a
better idea of what the Old Town must have been like...
I highly recommend this tour because I enjoyed every
minute of it.”
